Role overview
The team is seeking cooks for immediate hiring on both full-time and part-time schedules. The position is based at Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia.
Work schedule
Shifts may vary by day and hour. Final schedule details will be shared during the interview process.
Compensation
The pay rate for this role is between $20.00 and $22.00 per hour.
What the job involves
This role focuses on preparing food in line with federal, state, and company standards, policies, and operating procedures while consistently delivering quality service.
- Prepare menu items using standardized recipes and instructions so production, delivery, and service timelines are met.
- Portion and present food correctly, ensure proper serving temperatures, and verify appearance and taste; sample prepared items as needed.
- Use ticket collection processes during service and maintain accurate records for the assigned area.
- Clean and reset kitchen areas after cooking and serving, and store or dispose of leftover food safely.
- Keep refrigerators and storage areas orderly and compliant with storage standards.
- Operate and care for kitchen equipment as directed.
- Support production planning, record keeping, and reporting tasks when required.
- Help with ordering and receiving food and supply items.
- Escalate equipment issues, maintenance needs, or incidents to a supervisor right away.
- Attend safety and in-service meetings.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, guests, administrators, and managers.
- Work safely while helping maintain a clean and hazard-free environment.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
- Follow HACCP-based food safety practices, including portion control, presentation, and temperature standards.
- Take personal responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others.
- Follow company procedures, including required use of cut-resistant gloves, oven mitts/fryer gloves/steamer gloves, slip-resistant shoes, and proper lifting techniques.
Experience required
At least 3 years of prior cooking experience is required.
