Overview
Pirates of Coffee is seeking a highly motivated Coffee Roaster with a passion for the specialty coffee sector to join our Production team. Your core responsibility will be the timely, efficient, sanitary, and consistent roasting of specialty green coffee. The role extends to other elements of the coffee supply chain, including creating blends and fulfilling orders.

Role Description
This part-time position entails roasting coffee following set profiles, preparing production batches, monitoring quality, and operating roasting and packaging machinery. Daily duties include weighing and loading green coffee, recording roasting data, performing quality checks, packing and labeling orders, and maintaining a safe, organized workplace. Additional responsibilities encompass learning specialty coffee knowledge, supporting inventory management, aiding training activities, and collaborating with the team to ensure efficient production.
Candidate Profile
- Quick learner capable of mastering coffee roasting methods and production workflows.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality control, including tasting, documentation, and procedure compliance.
- Keen interest in specialty coffee origins, processing, and flavor nuances.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address operational challenges.
- Comfortable handling numerical data for inventory and order management, including frequent unit conversions.
- Excellent communicator eager to work cooperatively within a small team and follow instructions precisely.
- Receptive to training, coaching, and continual hands-on learning.
- Physically able to stand for long durations, lift medium-weight items like coffee bags, and safely operate equipment.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry, spreadsheet use, and communication via email or messaging platforms.
- Highly motivated with a solid work ethic.
- Able to perform well in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Dependable availability during production hours with ability to commute onsite to Mississauga, ON.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years experience in roasting specialty coffee.
- Preferred: Licensed Q-Grader (CQI) certification.
- Preferred: Specialty Coffee Association certifications such as Roasting, Brewing, or Sensory.
