Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Manager for our Riyadh, Saudi Arabia office specializing in commercial development within the OOG (Out-of-Gauge), Reefer, Project Cargo, and Special Cargo segments. This role involves fostering business growth, managing client relationships, and delivering tailored logistics solutions in specialized cargo sectors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and drive sales and business expansion strategies targeting OOG, Reefer, Project Cargo, and Special Cargo in designated markets and trade lanes.
  • Explore and capture new business opportunities across sectors such as construction, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, manufacturing, agriculture, and perishables.
  • Establish and nurture robust relationships with customers, freight forwarders, NVOCCs, and industry stakeholders.
  • Conduct client visits, presentations, business reviews, and commercial negotiations to secure new contracts and grow current accounts.
  • Prepare commercial documentation including proposals, quotations, tenders, and service agreements aligned with corporate policies.
  • Offer expert technical and commercial advice regarding OOG, Reefer, Project Cargo, and Special Cargo enquiries and shipments.
  • Evaluate cargo feasibility and recommend appropriate equipment, transport routing, vessel allocations, and cargo handling methods.
  • Develop innovative logistics solutions for oversized, heavy-lift, breakbulk, and temperature-sensitive cargo.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer requirements to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Analyze cargo operational performance, revenue, profitability, and market share to inform strategic decisions.
  • Generate sales forecasts, performance reports, and business development updates for management oversight.
  • Suggest pricing policies and revenue-boosting initiatives for profitability and competitive advantage.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies, operational guidelines, safety standards, and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, operations, vessel planning, finance, procurement, and customer service teams to ensure smooth execution of cargo projects.
  • Serve as the main commercial liaison for key accounts and customers.
  • Support contract negotiations, account retention, and strategic account development.
  • Guide and support local agents concerning specialized cargo opportunities.
  • Lead and promote cross-departmental cooperation for commercial campaigns, trade initiatives, and continuous improvements.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Commercially-driven with strong focus on client needs and results.
  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in analysis, problem-solving, and decisive in decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for stakeholder and relationship management.
  • Adaptable and proactive in dynamic business settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, or relevant field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in container shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, project cargo, or related commercial functions.
  • Demonstrated success in business development relating to OOG, Reefer, Project Cargo, and Special Cargo.
  • Sound knowledge of liner shipping operations, international trade norms, and special cargo handling.
  • Expertise in sales, account management, tendering, and commercial negotiations.
  • Technical familiarity with OOG equipment, reefer container operations, and project cargo handling.
  • Strong grasp of shipping networks, trade lanes, vessel operation protocols, and cargo acceptance standards.
  • Firm commercial acumen involving pricing strategy, revenue management, and profitability analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation capabilities.
  • Strong data-driven analytical and reporting skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects with diverse international stakeholders effectively.

  • Growth in cargo volumes for OOG, Reefer, Project Cargo, and Special Cargo.
