About the Role

Traffic Safe NZ Ltd is expanding its award-winning teams and is seeking experienced Site Traffic Management Supervisors (STMS) to join the Palmerston North branch in a full-time onsite capacity. This leadership role involves directing traffic management operations on site, ensuring safety for all road users, and committing to high standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain traffic management sites in full compliance with approved Traffic Control Management (TTM) plans.
  • Oversee live traffic flow using stop/go signals and make layout adjustments as needed to maintain safe and efficient movement.
  • Lead and coordinate onsite crews, facilitate toolbox meetings, and delegate daily responsibilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive site inductions and safety inspections while keeping accurate records of site activities.
  • Promote an active safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and protocols on all sites.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Possession of a current TMO or STMS A/B practicing qualification is essential; however, candidates without practicing status are encouraged to apply as training and certification will be provided.
  • A full New Zealand Class 1 driver's licence with proficiency in manual vehicle operation is required; Class 2 licence is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to confidently manage crews and make informed, risk-aware decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Previous hands-on experience in traffic management across diverse work environments.
  • A strong dedication to safety standards and proactive hazard management.
