Role Overview
This full-time, on-site Locum Dentist role is based in Bulawayo and involves delivering general dental care to adult and paediatric patients. Key duties include patient examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, restorative work, and basic oral surgery as necessary. The role requires maintaining precise clinical records, following strict infection control and safety procedures, and collaborating with the dental team to ensure consistent, high-quality patient outcomes. Clear and compassionate communication with patients and caregivers about treatment options, preventive advice, and aftercare instructions is essential for this position.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a recognized dental degree with current registration or eligibility to register with the pertinent dental council or authority.
- Proven experience in general dentistry, including examinations, restorative treatments, and basic oral surgery for adults.
- Experience or keen interest in paediatric dentistry, demonstrating sensitivity and effectiveness in working with children and their families.
- Thorough understanding of infection control protocols, clinical safety, and evidence-based dental practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining treatment plans clearly and building patient trust.
- Excellent organizational abilities, meticulous clinical record-keeping, and attention to detail.
- Ability to integrate and cooperate within a multi-disciplinary dental team and adapt flexibly to various clinical workflows typical of a locum role.
- Dedication to providing compassionate, equitable, and ethical patient care while respecting confidentiality guidelines.
- Prior experience working in a busy dental surgery environment and familiarity with dental practice management software is advantageous.
