About the Role
This full-time, permanent position based in Dublin involves taking a hands-on approach as a site-based Health and Safety Officer for an established engineering and construction company. The projects contribute to shaping skylines, industrial sites, and critical infrastructure across Ireland. The incumbent will move beyond mere compliance to establish and nurture a proactive safety culture on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily health, safety, and environmental activities across active construction sites.
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings for employees and subcontractors.
- Develop, evaluate, and manage Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Perform regular inspections, audits, and safety walkthroughs alongside project stakeholders.
- Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, maintain detailed records, and report on safety performance indicators.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Have at least five years of experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, engineering, or manufacturing sectors.
- Demonstrate solid understanding of Irish health and safety legislation and industry standards.
- Experienced in performing audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Proficient in report writing and effective communication skills.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in structural steel, heavy engineering, or large-scale construction projects.
- Certifications in Manual Handling, Working at Heights, or Abrasive Wheels training.
