Overview
Hayley Group Limited is seeking a skilled Fluid Power Technician to become part of their experienced team located near Exeter. This permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work within a leading independent distributor of engineering products in the UK.
Role Description
The successful candidate will possess solid expertise in fluid power engineering and operate within a customer-facing context. Responsibilities will include performing hands-on maintenance and support tasks both within a manufacturing facility and workshop environment.
Working Hours
The role requires a 40-hour workweek from Monday to Friday, with occasional out-of-hours and weekend work when necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct servicing and maintenance of hydraulic systems both onsite and in-house.
- Assemble and test hydraulic and pneumatic systems within the workshop.
- Install and assemble hydraulic hoses and fittings accurately.
- Carry out onsite air leak inspections and implement corrective actions.
- Perform general mechanical engineering duties as required.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with customers and internal branch teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong general engineering ability alongside proficient use of hand tools.
- Experience with fluid power systems.
- Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate-level computer proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid UK driving licence.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering.
- Expertise with Cetop stage 1 hydraulics.
- Basic proficiency in pneumatics at Level 1.
- Proven background in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of hydraulic systems.
- Confidence in accurately identifying hydraulic hose assemblies for replacement or cataloguing.
- Understanding of hydraulic system basics and implications of hose assembly replacements within customer’s manufacturing settings.
