Job Overview
This role involves managing the operational and maintenance activities of plant equipment and facilities to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient plant operations that meet production goals while upholding safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and standard operating instructions to carry out daily activities consistently and under controlled conditions during shifts.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and contribute ideas for continuous process, system, and procedure improvements.
- Monitor equipment condition by assessing look, listen, and feel (LLF) indicators to maintain operational health and promptly report any performance issues.
- Control and supervise field equipment in accordance with SOPs, SOCs, and checklists, maintaining the health of safety-related equipment and documenting inspections accurately.
- Assist shift superintendent by tracking process parameters and coordinating with maintenance teams to address combustion process related issues timely.
- Manage equipment handover and takeover from maintenance using Permit To Work (PTW) and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) protocols while ensuring workplace safety standards.
- Collect samples from field locations for lab testing and conduct gas measurements such as Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) and oxygen levels using portable instruments.
- Maintain detailed shift logs documenting operational data and oversee inventory of logbooks, formats, spares, and consumables.
- Ensure workplace cleanliness and proper handling, segregation, and reduction of hazardous materials and waste; maintain fire and safety equipment readiness.
- Serve as first responder for onsite emergencies and participate as a member of the Auxiliary Fire Squad.
- Possess detailed knowledge of rotary machine seal systems, including the importance of seal pot pressure and level.
- Understand lubrication systems for compressors, emphasizing monitoring of temperature, pressure, and flow parameters.
- Able to identify status of lubrication oil/lubrication control (LO/LC) valves and recognize instrument field locations.
- Support regular risk assessments during equipment handovers and process jobs, conduct tool box talks to reinforce safety practices.
- Execute process activities aligning with safety operating procedures to minimize accidents and safeguard process integrity.
- Identify, document, and report near miss incidents to analyze trends and prevent recurrence.
- Adhere strictly to latest safety and management standards including IMS ISO, TQM, OMS, PSM, QCC, and 5S methodologies.
- Comply with LOTO, nitrogen gas safety, and line break procedures.
Education and Experience
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
- Up to three years of experience as a field executive in site operations is required.
Desired Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of unit operations and plant process knowledge.
- Familiarity with work permit procedures and plant hazard control measures.
- Knowledge of plant emergency handling and problem-solving skills.
- Competencies in people management, communication, teamwork, and self-discipline.
Technical and Functional Competencies
- Experience with tracking and managing injury and incident metrics such as fatalities, lost work cases, restricted work cases, medical treatment cases, and first aid cases.
- Awareness of process and non-process fire incidents and process safety incident tiers 1–3.
- Reporting of near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
- Commitment to completing OMPro tasks, minimizing operation and quality variances, and adhering to operational discipline (OD) guidelines.
- Conducting frequent field rounds (ODR) and maintaining the plant's housekeeping standards.
