Job description

Role Overview

We invite applications for a Research Fellow position at Lee Kong Chian School of Business, focused on spearheading the design and development of modular simulation platforms tailored for healthcare systems. This role involves creating and implementing advanced simulation and optimization models to improve healthcare operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and development of a modular platform for simulation purposes.
  • Design and apply simulation and optimization models that reflect real-world healthcare processes.
  • Convert complex healthcare system workflows into scalable and maintainable simulation architectures.
  • Perform comprehensive reviews of academic literature to integrate relevant findings into model development.
  • Assist in integrating, calibrating, and validating models using healthcare-related datasets.
  • Contribute actively to scholarly publications, research reports, and deliver presentations at conferences.
  • Liaise and coordinate efforts with healthcare institutions and research collaborators.
  • Support the development lifecycle including AI-supported coding and software execution.
  • Fulfill other related duties as assigned to support research objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, or other equivalent quantitative areas.
  • Proficient programming capabilities in Python.
  • Experience working with simulation modeling, ideally specializing in discrete-event simulation.
  • Strong competencies in software and system design, including object-oriented programming and modular system architecture.
  • Understanding of optimization methodologies and quantitative modeling techniques.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to contribute effectively to academic literature and research documentation.
  • Adept at working autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Keen interest or prior experience in healthcare analytics or operational research in healthcare settings is advantageous.
