Role overview
AAWAJ is seeking a committed Program Coordinator to support its work in child protection and assistance for survivors of sexual abuse under the POCSO framework. This full-time role is based in Bhopal and is centered on restorative care, combining psychosocial, legal, and coordination support for children and their families throughout the justice process.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with Police, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and medical practitioners to move cases forward.
- Keep case files in order, update MIS records, and prepare regular progress updates.
- Plan and run training sessions and capacity-building activities for team members and other stakeholders.
- Arrange school visits for awareness activities and orientation sessions for teachers.
- Take part in review meetings, data gathering, and action-research activities.
- Support children and families with psychosocial care and rehabilitation services.
- Help submit FIRs and coordinate legal assistance with lawyers and DLSA.
- Accompany children and families for court hearings and help ensure witness protection.
Eligibility and qualifications
Candidates should hold a postgraduate qualification in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Child Development, or a related discipline. Applicants with a graduate degree and at least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience may also be considered. The role requires strong MS Office skills, excellent written and verbal communication in both English and Hindi, a solid understanding of child protection laws, and a clear commitment to child rights. The position also calls for strong interpersonal abilities, tact, sensitivity, and the ability to work in demanding settings, including late hours when needed. Preference is given to candidates who can commit for at least 2 years, own a vehicle, and be ready to travel at short notice.
Compensation
The salary is INR 30,000 per month.
