Role Overview
The Night Auditor is responsible for verifying the accuracy of front office accounting records and compiling daily financial summaries for the hotel. This position involves monitoring room revenue, occupancy rates, and other essential front office performance metrics. The auditor prepares daily financial activity summaries, including cash, cheque, and credit card transactions, reflecting the hotel’s financial status. Additionally, the role requires posting room charges and taxes to guest accounts, including transactions missed by the daytime front office cashier.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed Matric certificate
- Relevant hospitality qualification or equivalent
- 2 to 3 years experience as a night auditor
- Strong numerical aptitude with proficiency in spreadsheets and financial reporting
- Experience with Hotel Management Systems (Protel or Mews preferred)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Effective communication skills with staff and guests
- Highly trustworthy and honest
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Professional appearance and articulate
- Proactive work approach and strong interpersonal skills
