Role Overview

The Marine Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing all marine electrical systems onboard vessels, ensuring reliability and safety. This role requires a hands-on approach in inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment vital to vessel operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine electrical systems aboard vessels.
• Service and maintain generators, switchboards, batteries, shore power systems, navigation lights, control panels, and other related marine electrical apparatus.
• Implement Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) schedules for all electrical systems to uphold operational standards.
• Inspect, test, and maintain shore power supply pedestals, guaranteeing safe, dependable operation.
• Prepare detailed Scope of Work documents for electrical work required during vessel dry docks and routine operations, ensuring compliance with operational requirements.
• Oversee and validate all electrical jobs during dry dock periods, confirming adherence to approved specifications.
• Conduct final inspections to certify completion and quality of electrical work before vessel re-commissioning.
• Manage timely procurement of electrical spare parts and materials to avoid downtime.
• Maintain thorough documentation, including reports and maintenance records for transparency and audit purposes.
• Respond promptly to marine electrical complaints recorded in the message system, ensuring all issues are addressed and properly closed.
• Strictly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain safety standards.
• Immediately report any accidents, unsafe conditions, or incidents related to marine electrical work.
• Remain on 24/7 emergency call for marine electrical issues, responding rapidly as needed.
• Represent the Marine Engineering department during official inspections, providing full technical documentation and compliance assurance.
• Work independently under guidance from the Marine Supervisor and Marine Maintenance Manager.
• Provide regular progress updates and reports to the Marine Supervisor, Marine Maintenance Manager, Assistant Chief Engineer, and Director of Engineering.
