Overview
MTN Ghana seeks a Manager for Talent and Career Management to lead the design, implementation, and enhancement of talent and career frameworks that ensure an engaged, capable, and future-ready workforce aligned with the company's business goals. This role operates within the Organisational Effectiveness & Performance department in a complex telecommunications and technology environment with a focus on sustainability, localization, and a high-performance culture.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and deploy talent development frameworks tailored to performance and capability requirements.
- Collaborate with Learning teams to drive initiatives in skills development, reskilling, and upskilling.
- Offer coaching to line managers to identify development needs and build employee competencies.
- Incorporate mentoring, coaching, and experiential learning across all organizational levels.
- Evaluate the success of development programs and suggest ongoing improvements.
- Oversee specialized development programs such as Graduate and Diversity initiatives.
- Establish and maintain clear career pathways and talent development standards.
- Provide employees resources and frameworks to set and follow career goals.
- Encourage internal mobility, job rotations, and career moves aligned with skills and business demands.
- Educate managers and employees on best practices in career management.
- Enhance employer branding by aligning talent management practices with MTN Ghana’s values and employee value proposition (EVP).
- Partner with Talent Acquisition, Communications, and Marketing to align talent insights with employer brand messaging.
- Support representation of MTN Ghana at career events and professional platforms, ensuring cohesive talent and career growth messaging.
- Share talent data insights to aid employer brand reporting and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Organisational Development for succession planning and talent development, translating results into actionable plans.
- Design and monitor development interventions for successors and key talents to prepare them for future leadership roles.
- Track and report successor readiness and development progress to relevant leadership forums.
- Advise managers on development strategies to close readiness gaps and reinforce succession pipelines.
- Identify talent risks via data insights and recommend specific interventions.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and employee engagement.
- Embed talent management practices that foster inclusion, positivity, and high performance.
- Analyze workforce data to inform strategic talent decisions and develop relevant dashboards and reports.
- Support evidence-based talent discussions within leadership and governance bodies.
- Refine talent management strategies continuously according to business needs and external trends.
Qualifications and Experience
- At minimum, a first degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Social Science, or related discipline.
- Professional HR certification is advantageous.
- 6 to 8 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years focused on talent, learning, or organizational development.
- Proven capability supporting leaders in complex or matrix structures.
- Experience implementing Talent Management strategies that align with organizational goals.
Knowledge and Competencies
- Understanding of the telecommunications, technology, and platform industries.
- Expertise in organizational development and change management.
- Current knowledge of labor and employment laws including the Ghana Labour Act.
- Strong communication - verbal and written - and stakeholder management skills.
- Project management proficiency.
- Familiarity with people analytics and workforce insights.
- Awareness of evolving talent management trends and best practices.
- Experience with succession planning, leadership development, and performance management systems.
