Job Overview

This position entails working as a laboratory assistant specializing in phlebotomy. The role involves patient identification verification, blood collection from patients of various ages while ensuring the integrity of specimens, labeling samples accurately, and entering patient data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform precise phlebotomy procedures ensuring proper specimen collection and preservation of specimen integrity.
• Verify patient identity and information meticulously before labeling specimens to maintain accuracy.
• Enter and confirm patient and test details accurately in the LIS system.
• Maintain professional and courteous interactions with patients, assisting with their inquiries and providing clear instructions regarding specimen collection and care.
• Ensure the workspace is clean, well-organized, and adequately stocked at all times.
• Follow all safety protocols when handling biohazardous materials and phlebotomy equipment to prevent contamination and injury.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma.
• Preferred candidates will have at least one year of phlebotomy experience, including the ability to perform blood draws on patients of all age groups and adapt to various computer systems.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and proficiency in data entry is necessary.
• Knowledge of specimen collection techniques, requirements, handling, and maintaining specimen integrity is essential.
