Role overview
Medical Mutual is seeking a Director to lead its Project Management Office (PMO) from the Brooklyn, OH office. This position follows a hybrid-remote setup, with four scheduled in-office days each week.

What this role does
The PMO Director is accountable for guiding strategic initiatives from prioritization through delivery so they create measurable business impact. The role shapes project management standards, processes, and policies so they support corporate strategy and business goals. It also involves working with enterprise leaders, governance groups, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities, evaluate and sequence projects, and manage the organization’s project portfolio and reporting. The leader will oversee a team of project management professionals and partner with business units and cross-functional groups to ensure objectives are achieved.
Responsibilities
- Set and refine PMO standards, policies, and program/project management practices that align with company strategy and objectives, including measurement methods, tools, scorecards, and surveys.
- Track project progress and share status updates with stakeholders, while helping clear obstacles that could delay execution.
- Recruit, guide, coach, train, and develop team members, including ongoing development, performance reviews, and employee management.
- Work with internal teams to plan, scope, and run initiatives focused on strong client outcomes, operational efficiency, cost control, process improvement, and practical use of AI and other new technologies.
- Create executive-ready briefing materials and supporting analytics to inform leadership decisions.
- Strengthen working relationships across departments, locations, and geographies.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Candidates should bring deep project management expertise, strong leadership capability, and the ability to work effectively with business partners and cross-functional teams. A solid understanding of project management methods and tools is essential.
Education and experience
- A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in a business-related discipline; an MBA is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in project management or a related area is required, with preference for 5 years of progressive leadership experience.
- Five years of experience in the health insurance industry is preferred.
Certification
- A Project Management Professional (PMP) credential, or a similar certification, is preferred.
Technical and leadership strengths
- Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and project management software.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proven collaboration and leadership skills.
