Role overview

The company is looking for an experienced Construction Safety Manager to drive health, safety, and environmental initiatives across projects and job sites. This role focuses on building and maintaining effective safety systems, reducing risk, ensuring compliance, and strengthening a culture where workers, contractors, visitors, and other stakeholders are protected.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and roll out construction HSE strategies, policies, and procedures that support business goals and legal requirements.
  • Manage safety activities across several sites while ensuring alignment with local laws, project requirements, and accepted industry practices.
  • Carry out inspections, hazard checks, job safety analyses, risk reviews, and audits to spot and reduce workplace dangers early.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, quality, HR, and senior leaders to embed safety into every project stage.
  • Track safety metrics such as TRIR, LTIFR, near-miss reporting, audit results, corrective action closure, and training compliance.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and rule breaches, then complete root cause analysis and follow through on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure adherence to OHS rules, environmental standards, permit-to-work controls, confined space requirements, working-at-height rules, and emergency procedures.
  • Plan and deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, drills, training sessions, and awareness programmes to improve knowledge and compliance.
  • Oversee contractor safety oversight, safety records, permits, inspections, and prequalification processes to maintain consistent standards across partners.
  • Use HSE systems, incident platforms, audit tools, Microsoft Office, Power BI, and BI dashboards to monitor performance and produce reports.
  • Prepare safety reports, compliance records, audit summaries, executive dashboards, regulatory submissions, and leadership recommendations.
  • Guide, coach, and develop safety officers, HSE coordinators, site inspectors, and other safety team members while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related area is preferred.
  • Professional credentials such as NEBOSH International Diploma, NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA, CSP, or similar are a strong advantage.
  • At least 5 years of background in construction safety, occupational health and safety, HSE management, or construction site operations.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading construction safety programmes, HSE teams, or safety operations across multiple sites is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of construction safety regulations, hazard spotting, risk assessment, incident investigation, contractor safety, emergency response, and environmental compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with HSE management systems, incident reporting software, audit platforms, Microsoft Office, Power BI, and digital safety tools.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, local construction rules, behavioural safety programmes, and environmental management systems is beneficial.
  • Strong leadership, analytical thinking, organisation, conflict handling, and problem-solving skills are needed.
  • Excellent communication, training, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills are important.
  • Ability to work autonomously in demanding on-site construction settings while maintaining a proactive safety culture.

What you’ll get

  • A competitive compensation package.
  • Opportunities to grow professionally and develop HSE leadership capabilities.
  • Exposure to large-scale construction work, infrastructure development, sustainability initiatives, and enterprise safety programmes.
  • A dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • A supportive culture built around safety, accountability, operational excellence, and ongoing improvement.
  • The chance to lead important safety initiatives that protect people, assets, and project outcomes.
  • Clear progression paths into construction safety, HSE leadership, project management, operational excellence, and executive management roles.
