Role Overview

The organisation is looking for a seasoned Commodity Manager to own strategic sourcing and supplier management across assigned commodity groups. This position focuses on building sourcing plans, negotiating supplier terms, managing procurement exposure, and working closely with internal stakeholders to balance cost, quality, availability, and long-term continuity of supply.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement commodity strategies that support business goals, sourcing priorities, cost reduction targets, and supply chain resilience.
• Oversee the full sourcing lifecycle for assigned categories, including market research, supplier evaluation, contract discussions, performance tracking, and ongoing improvement efforts.
• Work with engineering, manufacturing, operations, logistics, finance, quality assurance, legal, and executive teams to align category plans with business needs and product timelines.
• Carry out market scanning, commodity trend reviews, supplier comparisons, cost analysis, and demand forecasting to uncover sourcing opportunities and reduce risk.
• Run sourcing activities such as RFPs, RFQs, supplier assessments, negotiations, and contract administration.
• Track KPIs including savings, supplier performance, on-time delivery, quality, contract adherence, inventory efficiency, and supply continuity.
• Maintain strong partnerships with regional and global suppliers while supporting supplier development, innovation, sustainability, and performance improvement.
• Anticipate and reduce supply risks linked to price swings, geopolitical issues, capacity limits, quality concerns, regulatory changes, and disruptions through contingency planning.
• Ensure purchasing activities follow internal policies, ethical sourcing standards, contractual terms, regulatory obligations, and ESG commitments.
• Use ERP, eProcurement, SRM, Microsoft Office, Power BI, Tableau, and other business intelligence tools to guide sourcing decisions and reporting.
• Prepare performance reports, sourcing plans, supplier scorecards, spend reviews, executive dashboards, and recommendations for senior management.
• Lead, coach, and support commodity analysts, sourcing specialists, procurement staff, and cross-functional teams while promoting collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Engineering, Operations Management, Finance, Economics, or a closely related area is preferred.
• A master’s degree such as an MBA, or professional credentials like CPSM, CIPS, CSCP, CPM, or similar, is an advantage.
• At least 5 years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, purchasing, or a related commercial function.
• At least 2 years of experience managing supplier portfolios, sourcing strategies, or procurement teams is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of commodity markets, strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, procurement analytics, cost modelling, inventory control, and supply risk management.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems, eProcurement platforms, SRM software, Microsoft Office, Power BI, Tableau, and other business intelligence tools.
• Exposure to global sourcing, ESG initiatives, trade compliance, category management, AI-based procurement analytics, and digital procurement transformation is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, commercial, financial, negotiation, planning, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder handling, presentation, relationship-building, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Ability to design commodity plans that balance cost efficiency, supplier performance, quality, sustainability, and broader business objectives.
• Comfort working independently in a remote environment.
