Advisor, Compliance Assurance

About the Role

Join the Chief Risk Office team at Suncorp New Zealand, a collaborative group that leverages diverse expertise to drive innovative and commercially sound risk and compliance solutions. This role within the Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Team is focused on enhancing the regulatory assurance program across all Suncorp New Zealand businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer guidance, oversight, and challenge regarding second line compliance risk and assurance management across New Zealand operations.
• Perform periodic and thematic reviews based on risk assessments, regulatory obligations, and control effectiveness; communicate findings clearly to relevant business units.
• Evaluate the design and effectiveness of company processes, frameworks, controls, governance, and management information.
• Identify critical regulatory and compliance risks proactively and collaborate with business units to address and mitigate gaps.
• Monitor the embedding of regulatory change management and report on its operational effectiveness.
• Forge strong working relationships within Suncorp New Zealand entities, becoming a trusted advisor on business initiatives and changes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• At least seven years’ experience in assurance, compliance, audit, regulatory affairs, or legal roles.
• Professional background preferably within financial services, insurance, or consultancy sectors.
• Exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to negotiate and communicate compliance requirements in business-relevant terminology.
• Extensive commercial experience at senior levels in corporate or professional services environments.
• A natural curiosity and innovative mindset to creatively approach challenges.
