Overview

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Wayleave Officer to join its Power Transmission & Distribution team in the Kirriemuir area of Scotland. The role focuses on arranging third-party permissions and submitting formal applications following the project schedule and requirements. Tasks include managing road and footpath closures in coordination with local authorities, planning access routes, and liaising with entities such as the Rivers and Canals Trust.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the client Wayleave Officer and site personnel to confirm land use areas, access points, delivery methods, and clearance needs.
• Identify and mark underground and overhead services using drawings, markers, third-party data, and ground scanning methods.
• Coordinate with local authorities, police, and other entities regarding road or footpath restrictions or closures.
• Address daily issues concerning access and grantors, and manage changes to access routes using established procedures like the red dot system on the project board.
• Maintain updated access maps and review method statements and risk assessments relating to wayleave activities.
• Provide daily updates on location boards and conduct inductions and safety checks for visitors and workers on site.

Qualifications and Skills

• Thorough understanding and experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities are essential.
• Basic knowledge of civil engineering, excavation, underground and overhead utilities is advantageous.
• Familiarity with traffic management regulations is beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Possession of a full driving license is mandatory.
