Job Summary
The Van Salesman is responsible for implementing and fulfilling the sales plan within a designated area, ensuring all product and customer service objectives are successfully met. The product range primarily includes lubricants, automotive spare parts, and accessories such as filters and fuel injectors, with the key clientele being puncture repair shops.
Main Duties
- Conduct daily financial reconciliation by submitting invoices for supervisor approval and delivering receipts and cash to the Branch Accountant. When allocated to remote locations, deposits cash in the bank daily and sends receipts via fax to the Branch Accountant.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels in the sales van by requesting replenishments from warehouses, collecting and loading stock upon approval.
- Achieve daily sales and collection targets through regular meetings with supervisors, reviewing customer accounts, scheduling deliveries and collections, and visiting customers to foster relationships and encourage sales.
- Manage overdue payments by tracking collections, creating action plans with supervisors for invoices over 60 days old, and visiting customers to prompt payment or gain payment timeline explanations.
- Administer Petrolube's labor incentive program by distributing telephone cards or charge vouchers to puncture shop workers, recording issued incentives, and reconciling them monthly.
- Stay informed about market developments including competitor activity, pricing, promotions, newly opened puncture shops, and verify stock availability at customer locations.
- Plan and carry out daily customer visits based on assigned delivery routes to ensure coverage and support.
