Role overview
The Training Specialist is responsible for creating, organizing, and delivering training programs for new product launches. This role focuses on building learning content that helps employees quickly understand and apply the material, while also improving their knowledge, skills, and overall performance.
Training may take place in a classroom, laboratory, production area, or online. The role also involves leading discussions, supporting lab sessions, resolving technical issues, and giving associates helpful feedback. In addition, the specialist works with stakeholders and subject matter experts to keep course content current and to monitor learner progress.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and continuously refine end-to-end training plans, learning paths, and course materials that support business goals and new product introductions.
- Use adult learning principles and blended learning methods, including webinars, videos, and self-paced modules, to improve knowledge transfer on the job.
- Work closely with business leaders and subject matter experts to gather feedback and tailor learning solutions to team needs.
- Recruit, guide, and assess instructors, and support a formal train-the-trainer certification process.
- Deliver technical training directly to frontline staff and clearly demonstrate operational procedures.
- Manage Technical Training Academy centres, including training budgets, equipment, facilities, and organization-wide training schedules.
- Administer the learning management system to manage training materials, registrations, global programs, and certification tracks.
- Maintain accurate training documentation to support internal and external audits, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Use assessment results and learner feedback to measure training effectiveness and improve programs over time.
- Promote training offerings and benefits across departments to increase employee participation.
Qualifications and requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in managing people and delivering training.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing-related environment.
- Professional Foundation or degree-level qualification in education, training, or a related field.
- Strong time management, public speaking, problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, presentation tools, and media equipment.
- Understanding of both traditional and modern training methods.
- Strong organizational ability, leadership, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working as part of a team and handling multiple assignments at once.
- Working knowledge of learning management systems, instructional design, and e-learning platforms.
- Ability to assess data, evaluate learning needs, and recommend effective performance solutions.
- Strong analytical ability to solve complex human, technical, and administrative problems.
- Ability to influence, coach, and motivate people without direct reporting authority.
- Experience delivering technical content through presentations and public speaking in an engaging way.
- Familiarity with training technologies and proven learning approaches.
- Desirable: experience designing technical lab environments to support technology-focused training.
- Desirable: experience partnering with senior leadership to shape and execute strategies aligned with business growth.
- Desirable: experience working with subject matter experts to support a strong training delivery model.
- Desirable: background in learning and development, learning architecture, learner frameworks, and instructional methodologies.
- Desirable: familiarity with blended-learning tools.
- Desirable: exposure to IT best-practice frameworks such as ITIL, LEAN, Oracle, and operational excellence methods.
Additional information
The role may involve conducting training in different formats such as classroom sessions, lab-based sessions, production-floor instruction, and online delivery.
