Overview

The Technical/Workshop Assistant plays a crucial role supporting practical engineering training sessions for cadets at the BAE Systems Qatar Technical Institute in Doha, focusing on both General Engineering and specialized training modules. This position ensures the safe, effective delivery of training activities within a hands-on workshop environment.

Primary Duties

  • Support the secure and effective facilitation of various practical training modules, primarily within workshop settings, promptly alerting instructional staff to any unsafe or improper practices.
  • Manage the distribution and storage of tools, equipment, and materials necessary for training activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in workshop and practical training areas to comply strictly with SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) regulations and internal Technical Institute policies.
  • Assist in preparing workshop environments for sessions and ensure post-class cleanup as directed.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the institute's training delivery by sharing improvement ideas and welcoming feedback from colleagues.

Qualification and Skills Requirements

  • Possession of a Level 2 qualification in an engineering-related field is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of SHE standards within engineering contexts.
  • English language proficiency at native level or, for non-native speakers, a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 is required.
  • Experience working in training or providing technical assistance, particularly in apprentice engineering, military engineering trade training, or further education engineering courses, is advantageous.
  • Fluency in Arabic is considered beneficial but not compulsory.
