Technical Director, Wireless & Multi-Product Solutions

Position overview

We are looking for an accomplished Technical Director to own technical strategy, solution architecture, and customer-facing technical leadership for wireless and multi-product offerings across the African region. This role requires deep hands-on strength in wireless systems such as 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, along with the ability to broaden that expertise into adjacent areas including fixed networks, transmission, and digital infrastructure.

As the main technical authority for the portfolio, you will guide engagements from early-stage sales support through implementation and project delivery, helping ensure solutions are reliable, high-performing, and tailored to customer needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical conversations, solution walkthroughs, and presentations with strategic customers and partners.
• Build tailored, competitive technical proposals and solution designs based on customer requirements.
• Support bidding activities, delivery execution, and network optimization work with expert-level technical input.
• Promote integrated offerings by connecting wireless, fixed, and transmission capabilities into converged solutions.
• Track industry developments and emerging technologies to inform future technical direction.
• Coach and strengthen the technical capability of team members.
• Work closely with R&D, product management, and global service teams to align regional needs with product evolution.

Qualifications and requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in technical roles within telecommunications.
• Strong background in wireless network planning, optimization, or system integration.
• Solid working knowledge of 5G NR, LTE, WCDMA, and GSM.
• Practical experience in network performance analysis and troubleshooting.
• Ability to quickly learn, support, and connect multiple product lines beyond wireless.
• Prior experience with Vodafone Group (VDF) or VDF-led markets is preferred, including familiarity with VDF technical standards, processes, and customer engagement styles.
• Strong customer focus, communication ability, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the region.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken; French or Swahili would be an added advantage.
