Team Leader

Overview

The Team Leader role entails supporting store management while delivering exceptional customer service, coaching team members, and managing designated sales floor areas such as Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, and Clothing recovery. This role also involves supporting Buy Online Pick Up In Store (BOPIS) and Omni-channel efforts according to store needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance and adhere to scheduled shifts including evenings, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
• Promote a safe, efficient, and productive workplace by enforcing policies and procedures.
• Deliver outstanding customer service and model top selling behaviors among team members.
• Utilize A+ Coaching methods to train, coach, and develop team members to improve sales and maintain operating standards.
• Manage execution, restocking, signage, and recovery of sales presentation areas including Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, and Clothing departments.
• Lead team members during shifts by delegating tasks, following up on execution, ensuring service standards, and maintaining safe work practices.
• Support front-end, sales floor activities, recovery processes, and customer engagement routines as directed by store or sales managers.
• Operate store equipment such as cash registers, computers, forklifts, and assist customers with loading purchases.
• Complete required documentation accurately and promptly.
• Obtain any necessary certifications or licenses relevant to store operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills

• Prior retail experience is preferred; farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is a plus.
• Supervisory experience is advantageous.
• Must be 18 years or older and possess a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not mandatory; literacy and numeracy skills are essential.
• Basic computer proficiency required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflicts ethically and effectively.
• Capable of performing and enforcing duties aligned with team member responsibilities.

Working Conditions

• Indoor store environment with moderate noise; shifts vary from at least 4 hours up to over 10 hours.
• Work may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
• Workspaces include hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt with proper lighting and temperature control.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with company safety standards.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist in moving merchandise throughout the store.
• Capability to push or pull loads up to 2,000 pounds with equipment like pallet jacks.
• Occasional overhead lifting or reaching required.
• Frequent standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, squatting, bending, stooping, and ladder climbing.
• Mobility to navigate all store areas including sales floor, stockroom, and register zones.
• Operation of store equipment such as dollies, hand trucks, forklifts (if over 18), balers, computers, and cash registers.
• Effective use of strong communication and documentation abilities.
• Ability to handle poultry and birds as part of store stock.
• Successful completion of certifications for propane dispensing and other business requirements when applicable.
• Willingness to travel and conduct business driving as necessary.
