Team Leader, CNG & Hydrogen Operations

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to oversee the CNG & Hydrogen Operations department, ensuring the safe, cost-efficient, and timely distribution and availability of compressed natural gas (CNG) across company service stations and client sites throughout the UAE. This role demands optimal use of resources including manpower, tools, inventory, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide the daily operations of the CNG & Hydrogen departments, including training and mentoring staff.
• Plan, organize, and oversee operational activities and personnel in line with directives from senior management.
• Manage Gas Purchase Agreements with suppliers, including meter readings, goods receipt notes, and equipment calibration.
• Coordinate product availability with gas suppliers ensuring compliance with company distribution quality standards.
• Monitor daily operations involving product storage, pipeline deliveries, inventory analysis, and maintain stock loss/gain within agreed limits.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce operational standards and procedures aligned with international best practices and company policies.
• Ensure all safety protocols and permit-to-work procedures are followed meticulously during operations at CNG stations.
• Stay updated on global technological and regulatory developments in Natural Gas, CNG technology, and trailer operations, integrating best practices into operations.
• Provide technical guidance and training to supervisors and operators for safe station operations.
• Authorize and approve maintenance and plant shutdowns, ensuring adherence to approved procedures for reliability and optimal asset utilization.
• Oversee planning and execution of operation and maintenance projects ensuring safety and quality standards are upheld.
• Lead infrastructure development and upgrades for existing CNG & Hydrogen facilities and coordinate with Engineering teams on project progress, support, and commissioning.
• Participate in safety and risk assessment exercises including HAZOP, HSEIA, HAZID, and risk assessments.
• Manage contractors to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion of projects within budget, providing corrective actions as needed.
• Direct distribution planning to guarantee timely deliveries to stations and bulk customers coordinating with sales and regional teams.
• Serve as Authorizing Engineer for operations and maintenance activities and assist in developing emergency response processes.
• Participate in emergency standby teams and oversee accident investigations and follow-up actions.
• Monitor budgets, manpower, operating expenses, inventory losses, and implement initiatives to boost productivity and reduce costs.
• Conduct operational audits to verify compliance and implement approved improvements.
• Recommend management changes to senior leadership and liaise with regulatory authorities such as Civil Defence and ESMA.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 10 to 12 years of experience in CNG plant operations and maintenance, including 3 to 4 years in a managerial role.
• Proficient in computer applications.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, planning, and organizational skills.
• Good command of English; Arabic language proficiency is advantageous.
• Possession of a valid UAE driving license is a plus.

Additional Details

• This position requires approximately 40% outdoor work.
• Revenues and budget management will follow the approved financial guidelines.
• Reports (direct and indirect) will be defined according to the organizational chart.
