Role overview

Medtronic is seeking a Systems Administrator for its Athlone site in County Westmeath, Ireland. The role sits within a global healthcare technology organisation focused on improving patient outcomes through innovative medical devices and services.

At the Athlone facility, the team supports the manufacture and development of airway management and other life-enhancing products. This position plays an important part in keeping core site business systems accurate, reliable, and continuously improved so that operations, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, maintenance, R&D, and IT can work effectively together.

What you'll do

You will own day-to-day administration and ongoing support for site business systems, with primary focus on BPCS ERP master data, including parts records and bills of materials for Athlone. You will also provide backup support for Planisware and for preventative maintenance systems such as Maximo and CAMS.

  • Run support and administration tasks for assigned BPCS ERP processes.
  • Create, update, review, and audit item master data, parts information, and related system fields.
  • Maintain strong data governance so ERP records remain accurate, consistent, and controlled.
  • Support engineering change orders and the rollout of product and process updates within BPCS.
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, planning, procurement, and quality functions to keep data aligned.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, standard procedures, and work instructions.
  • Handle creation of new parts and ongoing lifecycle changes.
  • Coordinate BOM setup, revisions, validation, and approvals.
  • Support product introductions, transfers, and phase-outs through correct system configuration.
  • Provide backup administration for the Planisware project management tool.
  • Assist with project data maintenance, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Work with global Planisware admins and project stakeholders.
  • Serve as site administrator for the maintenance management system (Maximo/CAMS).
  • Create and maintain equipment records, asset structures, preventive maintenance plans, and related maintenance master data.
  • Help maintenance teams use the system effectively.
  • Track system health, data quality, and compliance obligations.
  • Produce maintenance KPIs, reports, and performance measures.
  • Provide first- and second-level support for the assigned business applications.
  • Liaise with Corporate IT and external suppliers to close system issues.
  • Take part in upgrades, testing, validation, and deployment activities.
  • Work within company policies, data governance expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Experience and skills

The role calls for solid working knowledge of systems and processes, built through education or prior experience, along with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Practical understanding of operational systems and business practices.
  • Comfort using Excel and Word, plus systems such as BPCS, Maximo/CAMS, and Planisware.
  • Good organisational and time-management ability, with the capacity to handle several projects at once.
  • Ability to work on your own as well as contribute in a team environment.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Experience supporting projects and understanding of a manufacturing operations setting.

Compensation and benefits

Medtronic states that it offers a competitive salary and a flexible benefits package. This role is also eligible for a short-term incentive under the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The stated pay range for Ireland is EUR 41,840.00 to EUR 62,760.00.
