Position Summary
The System Administrator specializing in IT Datacentre Operations will oversee the management, administration, and enhancement of datacentre infrastructure and systems. This key position ensures that critical IT environments including private cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), and big data platforms maintain optimal performance, security, and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain IT systems using automation and industry best practices to increase operational efficiency and adapt to new technologies.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring and routine maintenance to guarantee maximum uptime and performance of datacentre infrastructure.
- Implement security protocols, apply updates and patches, and address vulnerabilities discovered through audits and security tests to protect systems.
- Manage backup operations and execute disaster recovery plans to sustain business continuity and rapid service restoration.
- Deliver technical support to end users, collaborate effectively with vendors and stakeholders, and perform root cause analysis to resolve key system problems.
Required Experience and Skills
- At least two years of experience in IT infrastructure management and systems administration.
- Proficient in datacentre operations and centralized storage systems such as NetApp.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies including VMware and cloud platforms (both private and public), along with container solutions like Red Hat OpenShift.
- Working knowledge of relational databases such as MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, and MariaDB.
- Familiarity with operating systems including Windows Server 2016 and newer, Red Hat Linux distributions, and UNIX systems.
- Experience with hardware platforms from HP, Dell, and Oracle Sun.
- Competency with load balancing technologies (for example, F5).
- Knowledge of backup solutions including Commvault, Oracle ZFS, and Networker.
- Basic understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and power systems.
