Job description
About the Role
This position involves operating stamping machines, molding operations, tooling engineering, and tooling technician duties. The role requires producing components as per the planner's schedule, managing die loading and unloading on machines based on production orders, and conducting periodic inspections following quality check sheets.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload dies on machines according to plans and prioritized by shift supervisors.
- Carry out periodic inspections during production to maintain quality standards as defined in the quality check sheets.
- Handle production interruptions by promptly informing relevant departments and securing support from cross-functional teams.
- Ensure efficient resource utilization at every stage of the process to optimize operations and reduce operational costs.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Planning, and Raw Material handlers to support production plans.
- Notify die and machine maintenance engineers about any issues related to dies or machinery.
- Replace filled reels with empty ones and ensure proper storage of filled reels.
- Affix production labels on Standard Pack Quantities (SPQ) and maintain cleanliness and order by removing rejected parts and cleaning machines, ensuring adherence to 5S standards.
- Perform raw material coil changeovers swiftly to maximize machine efficiency.
- Coordinate with RM handlers for required materials for die changes planned in each shift.
- Participate actively in continual improvement initiatives to enhance stamping, molding, and die maintenance processes.
- Support online packing activities when necessary.
- Visually inspect the first and last pieces before handing over to QA, reporting any die or machine issues.
- Optimize molding processes based on industry best practices and qualify new molds and molded parts following scientific injection molding techniques.
- Prepare quality documentation such as PFC, PFMEA, CP, and WI for newly introduced molding products.
- Work with NPD teams and supervisors to gather information and reduce non-value-added processes in molding operations.
- Support breakdown maintenance and preventive maintenance of dies and machines, improve die performance and lifespan.
- Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels of die maintenance spares, debug issues, and prioritize mold maintenance activities with the stamping team.
- Coordinate with QA and engineering teams for deviations related to spare shortages or design limitations, ensuring no functional impact on the product.
- Ensure implementation and leadership in 5S standards across stamping, molding, and die maintenance departments.
- Maintain records including daily log books, tool history cards, and spare consumption regularly.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of stamping machine operation.
- Capability to interpret and meet daily production requirements effectively.
- Proficiency in digital tools such as ERP systems (SAP), MS Office, and printers.
- Familiarity with product and system certifications including UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, ISO 9001, 14001, and TS 16949.
- Excellent grasp of optimizing resource utilization and reducing operational cost.
