Role Overview
This contract position is for a Sherpa language expert who will work remotely and contribute between 10 and 40 hours per week. The work centers on creating accurate Sherpa transcriptions from video content, along with deeper language analysis around meaning, tone, and usage.
Core Work
- Produce time-aligned transcriptions of Sherpa-language video materials with strong attention to timestamp accuracy.
- Interpret and describe how speakers sound emotionally, including their intent and subtle changes in tone.
- Review, correct, and polish transcription drafts to improve grammatical and linguistic accuracy.
- Study Sherpa words and expressions to explain their conceptual meaning in context.
- Evaluate grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure used in the language samples.
- Carry out contextual translation, semantic review, and tone-based analysis where needed.
Requirements
- Strong command of Sherpa and English in both spoken and written form.
- Prior exposure to transcription, translation, or language analysis, especially using audio or video sources.
- Ability to notice and explain emotional cues, speaker purpose, and cultural context.
- Academic or practical background in linguistics, language research, or editing is a strong advantage.
- Capability to assess grammar, tone, and conceptual meaning critically and carefully.
Working Arrangement
This is a remote contract role based in Nepal. The expected weekly commitment is 10 to 40 hours.
