Senior Process Safety & Risk Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Process Safety & Risk Engineer to help deploy and implement comprehensive process safety, loss prevention, and risk management programs across a diverse range of onshore and offshore assets. The role involves delivering expert advisory services, leading significant safety studies, and ensuring strict adherence to company and industry standards for safety. This position is integral to fostering a culture of process safety excellence across operational assets, brownfield modifications, and major capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Implement and uphold process safety, loss prevention, and risk management initiatives for assigned assets.
• Evaluate engineering documents, studies, and project outputs to verify compliance with applicable safety criteria and company procedures.
• Support the ongoing application and effectiveness of the company's Manage Operations Risk (MOR) and Ensure Process Safety frameworks.
• Lead and facilitate formal hazard identification and technical safety assessments including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL studies, and other major safety evaluations.
• Coordinate Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) and other key technical risk appraisals, engaging consultants when necessary to ensure quality delivery.
• Assist in the creation, execution, and upkeep of safety cases for relevant assets.
• Lead barrier management efforts by identifying, validating, and monitoring vital safety barriers.
• Review Management of Change (MOC) requests to guarantee the integrity and safety of operations in the field.
• Track and analyze process safety performance data, collaborating with Operations and other departments to propose enhancements.
• Represent process safety and risk engineering interests during project evaluations such as 3D model reviews, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, SIL assessments, and QRAs.
• Collaborate extensively with various stakeholders including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Integrity & Reliability teams, Major Projects, and third-party parties like industrial authorities and contractors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering—preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Safety, or a similar discipline.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in the oil and gas sector focused on process safety, risk management, loss prevention, or technical safety disciplines.
• Proficient with hazard identification and risk assessment techniques such as HAZOP, What-If Analysis, SIL, and QRA methodologies.
• Applied understanding of safe work systems and emergency preparedness protocols.
• Experience with Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), commissioning, and project start-up phases in oil & gas is considered advantageous.
