About the Role

Join the Data Operations COE group within the Enterprise Data & AI Division as a Senior Database Administrator, providing comprehensive DBA support across multiple relational database management systems such as Oracle (including E-Business Suite), DB2, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server, RDS, and EC2 on AWS cloud platforms. The team also manages Data Lake Operations encompassing ELT tools, data governance, enterprise platform engineering, data masking, and Snowflake platform support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with various business units and product teams from design phases through agile development lifecycle milestones, including enhancements and production releases.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies to align with product schedules and priorities.
  • Lead and assist in application stress and load testing to identify and resolve database performance issues, ensuring compliance with specified service level agreements before deployments.
  • Advocate and recommend adoption of new database functionalities beneficial for product evolution.
  • Manage database migration projects and version upgrades aligned with technology lifecycle management, maintaining audit and compliance standards.
  • Perform capacity planning and analyze data growth trends to inform resource requirements for storage, compute, and hardware.
  • Design and implement strategies such as archiving, purging, and partitioning to effectively control database size.
  • Execute and manage database and schema refreshes for development and test environments.
  • Establish and enforce backup, recovery, and restore policies consistent with recovery point and time objectives.
  • Identify and remediate database security audit issues, ensuring adherence to security, governance, and compliance protocols.
  • Administer users, access controls, roles, and permissions following the principle of least privilege.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production database and SQL performance problems ensuring system reliability.
  • Provide 12x7 on-call support, coordinate with vendors on technical issues, and oversee resolution processes.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong foundational knowledge and experience with Oracle Database versions 12c and 19c, including RAC and Data Guard technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of Oracle database internals and DBA dictionary views.
  • Proficiency in Oracle DB and SQL performance tuning using tools such as SQLTRACE, TKPROF, AWR, ADDM, SQL Profile, and SQL Baselines.
  • Solid grasp of database concepts including access methods, join types, index usage and scans, execution plan interpretation, table and index statistics, histograms, and wait events.
  • Experience with Oracle GoldenGate for data replication, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and managing RDS databases on AWS.
  • Strong PL/SQL programming capabilities.
  • Competency in Shell scripting for automation purposes.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills coupled with teamwork and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines and adapt to changing technological and business requirements.
