Senior Mechanical Technician

Job Overview

QatarEnergy LNG will conduct a recruitment event in India in late 2026, inviting only shortlisted candidates for in-person interviews; walk-ins are not allowed. The Senior Mechanical Technician will support expansion project mechanical tasks including pre-commissioning, commissioning, preservation, start-up activities, and routine mechanical field maintenance to ensure asset reliability across multiple facilities (North, South, RLTO & Refining, Barzan, and NFE).

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning, preservation, and start-up of new mechanical equipment and facilities.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on field mechanical equipment following safe work procedures.
• Confirm availability and condition of materials and spare parts prior to maintenance activities as per work plans.
• Adhere to maintenance procedures and implement controls to guarantee workplace safety.
• Maintain accurate records and reports of completed work as directed by supervisors.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues under guidance and provide timely updates.
• Review technical documents such as P&IDs, loop and hook-up diagrams, mechanical indexes, datasheets, and logic diagrams related to mechanical equipment.
• Utilize calibrated and certified tools appropriate for tasks, ensuring compliance with Intrinsic Safety requirements.
• Participate in toolbox meetings and proactively report near misses, incidents, and accidents by submitting safety observation reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completed secondary school education with vocational training (TAFE).
• Minimum of three years experience as a technician in the oil & gas or petrochemical sector.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong expertise in operating, maintaining, and condition monitoring mechanical equipment such as turbines, pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, and vessels.
• Proficient in English communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to adapt effectively in multinational work environments with diverse cultural exposure.
• Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
