About the Role
We seek a proficient Mechanical Design Engineer with hands-on experience in designing Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and industrial automation systems. The role demands expert use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create innovative machine concepts and advance them through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop customer-specific Special Purpose Machines (SPMs).
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings utilizing SolidWorks.
- Produce 2D fabrication and assembly drawings with AutoCAD.
- Design machine frameworks, fixtures, conveyors, and automation mechanisms.
- Choose and incorporate standard mechanical parts such as Linear Guides, Ball Screws, Bearings, Gearboxes, Pneumatic Cylinders, Servo Systems, and Motors.
- Compile Bill of Materials (BOM) and maintain engineering documentation.
- Work closely with Electrical, PLC, and Controls Engineers to ensure full machine integration.
- Assist in prototype assembly, testing, machine trials, and commissioning processes.
- Troubleshoot design and manufacturing challenges to maintain quality and on-time project completion.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven expertise in Special Purpose Machine (SPM) design.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of Machine Design principles, GD&T, manufacturing drawings, and assembly design.
- Experience with Pneumatic Systems, Material Handling, Conveyors, and Automation equipment.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and selection of mechanical components.
