Role Overview

As a Senior Application Engineer for AVEVA AIM at Schneider Electric, you will spearhead comprehensive implementations of AVEVA AIM systems, spanning from requirement gathering to final go-live. Your work will involve aligning with client information standards, configuring systems, and integrating various data sources to build an effective digital twin environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle AVEVA AIM implementations including environmental preparation, configuration, data ingestion, validation, and deployment.
  • Develop and tailor class libraries, tagging rules, and asset structures consistent with CFIHOS, ISO 14224, and ISO 15926 standards.
  • Construct data ingestion pipelines for engineering documents and models from EPC handover and archive systems, ensuring data quality and completeness.
  • Integrate AIM with 3D visualization tools and cross-reference tags, documents, and models to create a navigable digital twin.
  • Produce compliance and consistency reports on information standards using AVEVA BI Gateway.
  • Configure system gateways and interfaces to PI historians, CMMS/EAM platforms (SAP PM, Maximo), document management, and Unified Operations Center.
  • Perform deployments under stringent air-gapped, firewall-restricted national oil company environments including offline installation and patch management.
  • Act as subject matter expert during pre-sales activities, including solution design, effort estimates, demos, and responding to RFQs/RFPs.
  • Maintain and develop reusable assets such as templates, data-loading tools, validation scripts, and documentation runbooks.
  • Guide and mentor engineering and client teams to foster self-sufficiency during scaling phases.
  • Contribute to data readiness evaluations supporting AI and industrial analytics use cases.
  • Define data quality metrics, oversee configuration management, and maintain as-built documentation across environments.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Computer Science fields).
  • Over 8 years’ experience in engineering information management or industrial software delivery with at least 3 years focusing on AVEVA AIM hands-on configuration and deployments.
  • Proven success delivering two or more full-cycle AVEVA AIM projects within oil and gas, petrochemical, or similar process sectors.
  • Knowledge of engineering information standards encompassing CFIHOS, ISO 15926, ISO 14224, and EPC handover processes.
  • Practical experience with Smart Plant Engineering tools, AVEVA E3D/PDMS modeling, laser scanning and integration of intelligent P&IDs and engineering document formats.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages, preferably Python, for transforming, loading, and validating data.
  • Strong command of English with excellent client interaction and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Experience interfacing with REST APIs and integrating industrial software systems.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience delivering projects in GCC countries with understanding of their engineering standards and vendor processes.
  • Familiarity with AVEVA Unified Operations Center, AVEVA Connect, and digital twin platforms.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML data readiness as related to soft sensors, predictive maintenance, and autonomous operations.
  • Certified in AVEVA AIM or related software portfolio products.
  • Understanding of AVEVA CONNECT and subscription licensing models.
  • Arabic language abilities are a plus.

Competencies

  • Ability to own full technical accountability of AIM deployments from pilot phases through scaling.
  • Commitment to data quality with a mindset treating validation and completeness as deliverables.
  • Proven ability to engage and lead diverse client stakeholders, from engineers to management.
  • Capability to succeed in constrained and controlled, brownfield environments rather than ideal conditions.
  • Focus on developing reusable knowledge and improving team capabilities continuously.
