Role overview
US Foods is seeking a Router to plan, organize, and sequence delivery routes in a prompt and accurate way using computer-based routing tools. The role supports efficient transportation operations while helping meet customer delivery needs and cost targets.
Key duties
- Use routing software to align customer orders with the correct truck loads.
- Distribute freight across trailers based on product and pallet size, as well as weight limits.
- Create routes that are cost-conscious without compromising customer service requirements.
- Coordinate with Sales and Warehouse teams to confirm whether requested deliveries can be completed.
- Produce routine reports each day, including route change requests, sequence updates, and new customer requests.
- Keep routing system settings up to date in RoadNet and the mainframe environment.
Schedule and pay
This is a Monday through Friday position, working from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The posted pay rate is $28 per hour. Compensation may vary depending on relevant experience, education, job-specific skills, function, and location, as permitted by law.

Work relationships
Internally, the role works with the Transportation Supervisor or Manager, Sales and Warehouse associates, Delivery Drivers, Dispatchers, and departmental clerks. Externally, it interacts with customers.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Candidates should have at least 4 years of experience in a related environment. Strong English reading, writing, and speaking skills are required for job duties and safety compliance. The role also calls for computer literacy, including data entry, report preparation, spreadsheet creation, data handling, and mainframe downloads. Basic arithmetic skills are needed, along with the ability to handle moderately complex issues independently and work scheduled hours plus any required overtime.
