Job description

Overview

A nationwide portfolio of service reservoirs and dams is crucial to water supply infrastructure. These assets vary in size, age, and condition, with several critical treated water storage structures and dams identified as potentially vulnerable to failure. Such failures could impact service delivery, water quality, environmental conditions, public safety, and costs.

Scope of Work

  • Perform repairs and install new or replacement pipework, fittings, and valves for service reservoirs, water towers, and clean water tanks, including tasks within confined spaces.
  • Install access covers, handrails, and ladders for infrastructure safety and accessibility.
  • Set up access gates, fencing, and signage around sites.
  • Conduct above-ground inspections and surveys near open water sources.
  • Carry out underwater inspections and surveys in open water environments.

Cleaning of reservoirs typically requires one to two days per location.

Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite project execution focusing strongly on health and safety, timely completion, budget control, and quality assurance.
  • Organize site inspections and surveys with operations teams and contractors.
  • Ensure all works are performed according to contract documents and project specifications.
  • Confirm all materials and workmanship meet standards, and required testing is completed satisfactorily.
  • Monitor project progress closely and report on compliance with employer demands.
  • Maintain communication with the Employer's Representative and Project Manager about site conditions and issues.
  • Apply and enforce health, safety, quality, and environmental (HSQE) policies and standards on site.
  • Review, provide feedback on, and oversee HSQE documentation such as Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Traffic Management Plans.
  • Evaluate contractor health and safety adherence.
  • Perform weekly health and safety inspections, ensuring identified issues are resolved quickly.
  • Manage investigation and corrective action processes following any incidents or accidents.
  • Participate in monthly HSQE inspections and follow up on findings promptly.
  • Keep the Project Manager regularly informed of progress.
  • Prepare detailed pre- and post-inspection and cleaning reports.
  • Maintain project dashboards and tracking tools to monitor project metrics.

Locations

  • Sites span Cork, Kerry, Limerick, and Clare, focusing on engineers based near Mallow.

Essential Qualifications and Conditions

  • At least seven years of relevant site supervision experience in civil infrastructure projects.
  • Possession of a full driving license and full-time vehicle access.
  • Valid Safe Pass certification.
  • Confined Space Entry qualification.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the assigned regions.
