Job description
Position Overview
Join the Maintenance Operations team at the City of Greater Geraldton as a Reserves General Hand. This rewarding position entails working collaboratively to care for public open spaces, performing routine, seasonal, and corrective maintenance to keep grassed areas safe and functional for community use throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality daily upkeep of parks, ovals, reserves, and other public open spaces, including turf renovation, fertilizing, mowing, slashing, and all turf maintenance aspects.
- Operate equipment safely and competently, conduct routine daily maintenance and prestarts, and maintain accurate records.
- Complete all tasks with meticulous attention to detail, meeting high standards within budget and scheduled timelines.
Position Requirements
- Possession of MR Class Driver’s Licence and White Construction Safety Card.
- Proven experience in reserves maintenance and turf management.
- Skilled in safely operating tractors and commercial mowers with three-point linkage and PTO driven implements.
- Strong attention to detail and sensitivity to working in public, high-profile areas.
- Effective communication skills and proficiency using IT devices such as smartphones and tablets.
All candidates must complete a pre-employment medical exam, including alcohol and substance testing.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges from $76,072 to $80,396 per annum ($38.49 to $40.68 per hour), depending on qualifications, skills, and experience.
