Job description

Overview

The Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University is looking to appoint a Research Assistant to contribute to a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded qualitative project examining intergenerational activities within care homes featuring co-located nurseries, focusing on residents living with dementia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Dr Chloé Bradwell, a second Research Assistant, experts, and partner care homes to progress the study.
  • Participate in all phases of research including recruiting participants, obtaining consent, conducting ethnographic observations, interviews, and facilitating creative focus groups with both nursery children and care home residents.
  • Analyze collected qualitative data and assist in preparing detailed reports and dissemination materials.
  • Regularly travel to multiple care home locations within the UK to carry out fieldwork, with some assignments requiring overnight accommodation. A driving licence or proof of feasible travel arrangements is preferred.

Requirements

  • Previous experience conducting research with older adults and/or care home personnel.
  • Proficiency in qualitative research methodologies, with ethnographic approaches being especially desirable.
  • Ability to manage a part-time workload at 0.4 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE).
