About the Organization
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a globally recognized biomedical and hospital research institution based in Montreal, Quebec. It is affiliated with McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and supported partly by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS). RI-MUHC is dedicated to advancing biomedical science and patient-focused medicine through innovative research.
Position Overview
This role supports research programs within the Child Health and Human Development Program, focusing on child health equity and pediatrics. The Research Assistant will engage in co-design sessions, recruitment, and implementation of research initiatives, incorporating youth and community involvement, as well as principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate collaborative design sessions with youth, researchers, and community stakeholders.
- Assist in organizing and executing EDI initiatives for national research networks.
- Recruit participants and oversee management of ongoing child health studies.
- Support design of mixed-methods and community-based participatory research protocols.
- Contribute to writing research protocols and academic manuscripts.
- Manage ethical approvals and amendments through the Research Ethics Board and Contracts Office.
- Collaborate with national research teams and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Collect and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Conduct thorough literature reviews, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
- Supervise volunteers and trainees involved in research projects.
- Participate in activities to disseminate research findings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or related health discipline.
- Minimum of two years' experience in health research.
- Proficient in spoken and written French and English, capable of handling complex communications in both languages.
- Demonstrated experience with community-based participatory action and co-design research methods.
- Clinical research background with expertise in quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and qualitative analysis software like NVivo.
- Experience with multicultural communities and prior engagement with RI-MUHC considered assets.
Additional Information
- Employment type: Temporary, full-time position (35 hours per week).
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Work locations include 5252 de Maisonneuve Blvd. and Glen Site at 1001 Blvd. Décarie.
- The position offers a hybrid work arrangement requiring presence at multiple sites.
