Division Overview
The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit operates across several sectors including Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation, Education, Health and Care. The Irish APD team is growing rapidly, comprising qualified and experienced professionals in project and commercial management functions across multiple cities including Belfast, Dublin, Cork, and Galway.
Role Summary
The Quantity Surveyor role involves working under the guidance of the Senior Quantity Surveyor to support commercial management activities on various water, waste-water, and environmental projects. The position requires active collaboration with project teams and clients to ensure that projects meet time, cost, and quality expectations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and innovation. The role includes ownership of deliverables, risk and stakeholder management, and adherence to project governance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial aspects of one or more projects, including budgeting and financial reporting (tracking actuals, variances, accruals).
- Identify, monitor, and report on project risks.
- Support dispute prevention and resolution.
- Advise on commercial strategies.
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals for acceptance.
- Assess compensation events and monthly payment applications.
- Conduct commercial audits.
- Mentor and guide junior team members.
Candidate Qualifications
Desirable:
- Chartered status (MRICS) or progressing towards it, with ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Experience in cost planning within a consultancy or multi-disciplinary environment.
- Familiarity with contract administration, cost estimation, and NEC contracts.
- Previous work experience in water, environmental, or regulated sectors.
Essential:
- Degree qualification preferred.
- Capability to work both independently and within team settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills including report writing and presentations.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues, and supply chain partners.
- Flexibility in work approach and willingness to travel to client sites and other company offices.
