About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Planner/Scheduler who has hands-on knowledge of how construction projects progress on site, beyond just theoretical scheduling. This role requires active involvement in the heart of project delivery, collaborating closely with Project Managers, Commercial teams, and site leadership to develop, manage, and continuously challenge project programmes in real time.

You will take full responsibility for the programme from its early stages through to completion, ensuring it accurately reflects on-site realities, drives performance improvements, and highlights potential risks before they escalate.

If you have a background working with M&E contractors or within the construction industry and understand how sequencing, coordination, and site constraints influence project delivery, you will integrate seamlessly into this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and manage comprehensive, resource-loaded project schedules using Primavera or MS Project.
  • Collaborate with site and project teams to verify that project programmes mirror the actual construction sequences.
  • Detect risks, delays, and pressure points at an early stage and work proactively to devise solutions.
  • Conduct "what-if" scenario analyses to predict the effects of methodological or sequencing changes.
  • Generate precise and clear reports on progress, milestones, and critical path items.
  • Assist project teams with short-term scheduling and lookahead planning.
  • Question assumptions and offer practical planning insights throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor on-site progress, ensuring programmes align with real delivery status.
  • Support commercial and project teams by providing planning input relevant to variations and claims.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Planner or Scheduler within construction or M&E contracting environments.
  • Deep understanding of on-site project delivery dynamics rather than purely theoretical planning.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project software.
  • Capability to interpret technical drawings, sequencing plans, and construction methodologies.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills, able to work collaboratively with site staff, project managers, and senior leadership.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in fast-paced, deadline-driven settings.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and confident in raising and addressing challenges when necessary.

Benefits and Opportunities

Planning at Designer Group is integral to project success rather than a peripheral task. Your role will impact programme reliability, commercial results, and overall project achievements.

  • Competitive remuneration and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work on significant international projects spanning multiple sectors.
  • Defined career progression path within an expanding planning team.
  • A company culture that values and embeds planning into project delivery from the outset.

Additional Information

If you want to be a Planner who actively propels projects forward and plays a key role in their success, we encourage you to apply or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
