Job Overview
The Project Manager is entrusted with overseeing the planning and execution of photovoltaic (PV) solar initiatives ranging from small-scale 1 MWac projects to large-scale developments exceeding 100 MWac. Depending on project scale and intricacy, the role may include managing a single project or multiple concurrent projects at varying stages. Collaboration spans multiple internal departments such as business development, engineering, finance, legal, and on-site management.
Functioning as the commercial lead, the Project Manager ensures contractual obligations are fulfilled, maintains client relationships, and manages project deliverables. Responsibilities also encompass establishing and tracking performance metrics, schedules, risk assessments, and cost controls aligned with organizational protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as commercial lead managing all project-related contracts including solar EPC, substation EPC, equipment procurement, and interconnection agreements.
- Participate actively in contract negotiations, leveraging support from internal departments as needed.
- Oversee and report on project scope, schedules, budgets, installation progress, and risks alongside project controls teams.
- Manage scope changes and perform change management efficiently.
- Monitor and control project expenditures.
- Engage in stakeholder communication both internally and externally.
- Lead all project-related communication and reporting tasks.
- Maintain strong client and community relations.
- Coordinate with Environment, Health, Safety, and Security teams to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Utilize IT platforms such as Procore, Box, and Mercatus to facilitate project management.
- Evaluate current project management methodologies and suggest improvements.
- Supervise key project team members in coordination with functional managers, including Project Engineers, Sourcing Managers, and Site Managers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in project or construction management.
- Possession of Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- Solar industry experience is advantageous; however, strong interest in solar energy projects is essential.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project; experience with Procore is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
- Strong analytical skills with effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Customer-focused mindset with an emphasis on attentive listening and service.
- Familiarity with standardized project management processes and tools.
- Knowledge of engineering design, procurement procedures, and construction practices.
- Exposure to the U.S. renewable energy sector and design-build project experience is beneficial.
