About the Role

We are expanding due to ongoing growth and an increasing project workload and are looking for a skilled Project Manager to join our Energy Networks & Renewables division based in Christchurch. This position involves leading infrastructure projects critical to the transmission and distribution sectors, such as protection upgrades, substation expansions, and network enhancement efforts.

You will oversee a varied collection of projects simultaneously, ranging in scale from smaller upgrades to major capital developments. This role offers a chance to positively influence project delivery by emphasizing safety, efficiency, and quality while nurturing and managing high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the complete delivery lifecycle of multiple infrastructure initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, punctually, within budget, and according to contract specifications.
  • Lead and coordinate teams including field personnel, technicians, supervisors, subcontractors, and various stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain project scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, and risk management documentation.
  • Oversee project financials including costs, change orders, claims, and overall fiscal performance.
  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with clients and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout project delivery.
  • Track project advancement and provide timely reports on outcomes and performance metrics.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to supervisors and project team members.
  • Promote continuous improvement in project management processes and delivery methods.

Candidate Profile

Applicants with backgrounds in infrastructure sectors such as electrical, utilities, civil construction, telecommunications, or relevant project domains are encouraged to apply.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven expertise in managing infrastructure, construction, or utility-related projects.
  • Strong skills in project planning, scheduling, and successful delivery of projects.
  • Capability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Solid commercial, contractual, and financial project management knowledge.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing subcontractors.
  • Excellent ability in stakeholder communication and client relationship management.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Possession of a full New Zealand driver’s licence.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to high voltage, transmission, distribution, utilities, or renewable energy projects.
  • Experience managing substation, protection systems, or network infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Excel, and project management software systems.
  • Knowledge of SAP systems.
