Project Engineer, Operations Engineering

The Project Engineer in the Projects team must understand the comprehensive project lifecycle, including planning, design, execution, and performance validation phases. This role focuses on site selection, ensuring statutory and legal compliance, maintaining project safety during design and execution phases, and applying value management across various project types including greenfield, brownfield, and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of building projects across multiple formats within East India.
• Manage setup of new centers, capacity expansions, and relocations in alignment with business needs.
• Drive project management programs such as standardization, energy conservation, productivity improvements, and oversee project financial procedures.
• Support the real estate team during site visits and due diligence by conducting feasibility assessments.
• Finalize conceptual layouts considering operational parameters.
• Prepare and define Developer's scope of work according to standards and specifications.
• Develop Amazon's project scope, prepare cost estimates, and submit build-out capital expenditure requests for approval.
• Oversee selection and management of Project Management Consultants and resources.
• Collaborate with procurement to evaluate and select vendors.
• Review material requirements with stakeholders and track procurement through to execution.
• Monitor onsite progress and manage execution quality of Amazon's scope of work.
• Ensure quality assurance and coordinate snag-free handover to Facilities Team.
• Work with launch teams to prepare for new site rollouts.
• Adhere to budgets and ensure safe execution targeting zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI).
• Prepare weekly progress reports and status updates.
• Ensure timely project closure including financials.

Performance Indicators

• On-time and in-full (OTIF) project execution to enable facility launches exceeding 95% success rate.
• Strict budget adherence with less than 5% cost overruns.
• Maintain zero LTIs and ensure safe site execution.
• Over 95% compliance with safety and statutory regulations.
• Completion of assigned project management initiatives within the established timelines.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
