Role Overview

This role offers a hands-on production position constructing CloudSpec instruments from mechanical and electrical assembly through optical and chemical calibration, validation, and commissioning. The successful candidate will ensure the highest quality for all outgoing products, collaborating closely with engineering and scientific teams while developing a thorough understanding of the underlying physics and chemistry.

Main Responsibilities

• Assemble all mechanical, electrical, and optical components of CloudSpec instruments to specification
• Conduct dry commissioning by running test scripts, capturing and analyzing data, and confirming device compliance with specifications
• Perform wet commissioning by preparing chemical solutions, pipetting samples, and executing chemical validation tests
• Maintain equipment and workspaces to exceptional standards for safety and quality
• Document commissioning results and any deviations precisely and clearly
• Proactively suggest and implement production process optimizations

Candidate Profile

• Minimum two years’ experience building and producing high-value hardware, demonstrating high-quality results
• Skilled in mechanical and electrical assembly, with strong manual dexterity and precision
• Keen intellectual curiosity to understand scientific principles underlying technology, including UV-Vis spectroscopy, optics, and basic chemistry
• Meticulous attention to detail with excellent ability to follow multi-step technical procedures reliably
• Capable of working efficiently under time pressure without compromising quality
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a commitment to thorough documentation
• Self-driven and resourceful with ability to troubleshoot issues independently before seeking help
• Collaborative and supportive team player who shares knowledge openly and avoids siloed work

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or related field)
• Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS)
• Basic programming or data analysis skills
• Work experience in regulated production environments
