Role Overview
This organisation has successfully developed a validated product and achieved significant market traction, now poised for its upcoming growth phase. The focus has shifted from validating the concept to scaling operations without compromising on quality. The Product Director role is designed to build and lead the operational systems essential to scale exceptional products effectively. This position is a leadership role reporting directly to senior leadership, with responsibility for the Product Development function that underpins a rapidly expanding programme portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain the operational infrastructure that supports programme development, launch, and ongoing enhancement.
- Ensure product excellence along the entire customer journey, elevating standards rather than merely accelerating delivery.
- Develop and implement operational systems, tooling, and AI-integrated workflows that boost efficiency and enable scalable growth.
- Improve launch readiness by minimizing friction, increasing repeatability, and enhancing execution without sacrificing quality.
- Coordinate cross-functional routines that align Product, Technology, Delivery, Commercial, and Marketing teams.
- Create operational reporting, define KPIs, and establish decision-making frameworks that foster continuous improvement.
- Prioritize and execute multiple initiatives to translate strategic objectives into impactful delivery.
- Design scalable operating models capable of supporting substantial future growth.
- Lead, mentor, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement within the Product Development team.
Scope Exclusions
- This role does not determine overall strategic business direction, which is set by senior leadership.
- Learner-facing delivery operations are managed by a dedicated Learner Delivery Director.
- It has no responsibility for academic content, curriculum design, or subject matter expertise.
- The focus is on ensuring operational systems for these areas are world-class, scalable, and continuously advancing.
Measures of Success
- First 30 Days: Gain a comprehensive understanding of current programme operations and identify key operational challenges; build strong relationships across leadership and teams; pinpoint high-impact opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency, and scalability; assess current AI utilization and potential enhancements; develop a clear vision of exemplary operational product delivery.
- First 90 Days: Drive operational improvements that significantly enhance launch readiness and execution; introduce scalable operating practices that standardize programmes; deliver a prioritized roadmap integrating product operations, tooling, and AI; establish credibility as the operational leader colleagues rely on for complex challenges.
- First 180 Days: Demonstrate measurable improvements in operational KPIs; achieve faster, more repeatable, and predictable product launches; embed AI meaningfully within operational workflows; empower the Product Development function to enable confident scaling without quality loss; reduce senior leadership involvement in operational issues, freeing focus on strategic growth.

- Experience in building products, operational systems, or platforms within fast-growing companies.

- Proficiency in AI, utilizing modern AI tools daily for decision-making, productivity, and innovation.

- Exceptional communication, confident decision-making, and cross-functional influence without dependence on hierarchy.

- Experience in digital learning, SaaS, technology, marketplaces, or other rapidly scaling sectors is beneficial but not mandatory.
