About the Company
Applied Materials is a worldwide materials engineering company that powers the manufacturing of nearly every advanced chip and display in use today. The organization designs, builds, and services sophisticated equipment that supports semiconductor and display production, helping enable technologies such as AI and IoT. It offers an environment where people can develop their skills, take on challenging work, and contribute to innovation in a global setting.
Role Overview
This position supports R&D process development for semiconductor manufacturing. The technician will help prepare wafers for experiments, run reactor-based thin film processes, operate scanning electron microscopes for analysis and imaging, and work with engineers and scientists in a cleanroom setting. The role is well suited to someone who is hands-on, meticulous, and interested in advancing next-generation technology.
Key Duties
- Support engineers in developing process technology for advanced semiconductor applications.
- Carry out basic recipe adjustments and CH troubleshooting during process runs, following the engineer’s instructions.
- Own the execution of module processes, including data collection for measurement and inspection, and share results with the engineer.
- Coordinate with internal and external CH and metrology tool owners to secure tool time, run the process sequence, and gather feedback data for the engineer.
- Provide occasional overtime support for process engineering activities.
- Prepare wafers for experimentation and handle cross-section sample preparation for analysis.
- Operate laboratory process equipment and instrumentation, including reactors and scanning electron microscopes.
- Record process conditions, experimental observations, and evaluate wafers and thin films.
- Perform routine maintenance and assist in troubleshooting, equipment upkeep, and process optimization.
Candidate Profile
- ITE or Diploma in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline.
- More than 3 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or an R&D setting is preferred.
- Exposure to cleanroom practices and semiconductor processing tools is advantageous.
- Strong eye for detail and the discipline to follow SOPs accurately.
- Working knowledge of process control and data analysis.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Willingness to work Monday to Friday on rotating shifts from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm or 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
- Shift timing may later change to a rotating 12-hour pattern after relocation to Tampines.
Work Location
The role is based at Science Park II and the site is scheduled to move to Tampines at the end of 2026.
Employment Details
This is a full-time, on-site position. The employee type is Assignee / Regular. Travel is not indicated, and relocation is not eligible.
