About the Company
Smartkarma is a research network and platform that brings together investment analysts and institutional asset managers, including sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds, private equity firms, boutique investors, and family offices. Its cloud-based product is designed to help independent analysts package, share, and monetize research in a modern, technology-enabled environment.
The platform publishes more than 1,500 insights every month and is used by over 300 research firms worldwide. It also serves more than 250 institutional asset manager subscribers. Backers of the business include Sequoia Capital, Singapore Exchange (SGX), Wavemaker Partners, Jungle Ventures, and Spring Seed. Smartkarma also launched pvtIQ, an independent research and data service focused on Asian private markets.
Role Overview
pvtIQ is seeking a driven Junior Analyst to support ongoing research coverage of venture capital and private equity-backed companies and industries across ASEAN.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and publish research for institutional investors on VC- and PE-backed businesses and industries across ASEAN.
- Create and refine proprietary data sets, tracking metrics, and research frameworks that help explain business performance, sector trends, and market opportunities in the region.
- Develop working relationships with industry contacts, clients, and media professionals to strengthen primary research and thought leadership efforts.

Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in equity research, private equity, and/or venture capital.
- Strong interest in learning about Singapore and ASEAN private markets, along with the companies and sectors that shape them.
- Proven ability to write and publish high-quality research and investment commentary.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including experience engaging with senior stakeholders and clients.
- A forward-thinking, entrepreneurial approach, with comfort using AI tools to support research publication and the creation of data and metrics.
