Prison Support - HMP Isle of Wight

Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Operational Support Grade at His Majesty's Prison Isle of Wight to support the efficient day-to-day operations within a busy prison environment. The role involves a mix of administrative responsibilities and physical tasks such as security gate searches, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring phone calls and CCTV footage.

Driving is a crucial component of this position; therefore, candidates must possess a valid full UK Driving Licence.

Candidate Profile

No specific qualifications are required; however, strong communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, sound judgement, common sense, and the ability to work well within a team are essential. The role demands flexibility, including working varied shifts with weekend and night duties to ensure smooth prison operations.

This role offers valuable insight into prison operations and can open pathways to other roles within the prison service, such as applying for the conversion scheme from Operational Support Grade to Prison Officer.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary of £29,432
• Starting with 25 days of annual leave, increasing to 30 days after 10 years, prorated
