Job Overview

This role involves managing a single-unit postal facility where limited window services, mail distribution, and dispatching tasks are performed. The postmaster opens and closes the facility following established protocols and ensures compliance with postal regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a single-unit postal facility delivering limited window services and managing mail dispatch.
• Open and close the facility according to set procedures.
• Follow approved postal programs and operate strictly within postal rules, laws, and regulations.
• Address and resolve operational issues, escalating to the Manager of Post Office Operations as needed.
• Implement safety measures to ensure customer welfare and mail protection.
• Maintain accurate files and records and complete assigned reporting tasks.
• Respond to inquiries, offer guidance, and regularly engage with postal customers.
• Safeguard accountable documents, cash, inventory, schedules, and supplies in line with Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements.
• May prepare and oversee an operating budget.
• May select and train an alternate supervisor to ensure continuous office management.
• Provide limited city, rural, or highway contract route delivery services to local patrons.
• Maintain a focus on personal and team safety.
• May supervise one or more employees.
